How Can Women Make Peace With Power?
the answer will totally surprise you …
By welcoming back your inner partner in creativity, power and leadership… your own Sacred Masculine.
Yes, I know the idea of meeting your sacred masculine seems very counter- intuitive, especially in this era of the rise of the divine feminine.
I’ve been working towards this new era for women for 45 years and only now I see that part of standing in our wholeness means we’ve also integrated and aligned with the divine masculine energies living inside us.
The past several decades had women challenging all parts of society’s rules and expectations for them. Many of us were, and still are, essentially in battle mode. Needing to prove we are equal to any man or up to any task.
But as we see so clearly in the outer world, when we’re prepared for battle, we create and find battles.
This quest for so called equal rights for women is, in my view, a dead end. It is keeping us locked into our armor. (I am not saying women shouldn’t be paid equally for equal work or any number of other things that the larger women’s movement is talking about. That is a longer article for another day.)
To me, the opposite path of denying our aggressive impulses that the spiritual think-only-positive gurus would advocate are not in any more balance than the warrior stance of the first position.
At this time, we are truly being called into a totally new way of viewing and experiencing ourselves, each other and the world. We are literally being called to move past duality – even as we are living inside of it.
How the heck do we move past duality even as we are living inside of it?
We EMBRACE IT ALL. We accept and learn to love the bundle of contradictions – another name for energies – that make up who we are. We move from either/or, good/bad, positive/negative to both/and.
I am selfish and generous.
I am calm and angry.
I am powerful and weak.
I am the All That Is. As are you.
What does this have to do with Make Peace With Power?
Until we can embrace all of who we are, we’re cut off from those energies that could be working on our behalf. When we’re at war inside ourselves, we spend a whole lot of time and effort keeping certain parts of us hidden and suppressed. Then we project that unclaimed aspect onto other people, judging and criticizing them. I mean this from our partners, spouses, and children to our bosses (even when that’s you) and people in politics.
I recently woke up to the fact that I’d taken a vow when I was a child to remain helpless. I had no conscious awareness of this. It was living in my unconscious shadow side. But it pushed me to both live out the helpless victim in lots of ways in my life. And to push against it, fighting to say, “I’ll show you! I’m not a victim.”
Bringing that up to the light of awareness lets me embrace the parts of me that feel helpless without all the drama attached to it before. I can hear her voice and see what she needs.
One energy pattern that women often have a difficult time owning is being impersonal, dispassionate and objective. The very qualities that our Sacred Masculine adds to our psyches.
Why is this important?
Aren’t women supposed to be sensitive to the needs of others, to feel things strongly and always be warm and personal with other people?
Sure those are all important qualities… but if you’re running a business or being a leader in your workplace, there are times when being decisive, setting boundaries, and seeing the most strategic way forward are essential. If this part of you is in denial, you’ll find ways to sabotage your plans, or not follow through in the first place.
When you open up to this amazing energy of our Sacred Masculine, that is already living inside you… you realize you had this inner guidance system all along.
Here’s what my client Irina had to share,
“I was able to connect with a part of me that was unknown and unfamiliar – my Sacred Masculine self. It was so surprising for me to even realize I had that in me. As I asked that part of me to speak, I realized this part is actually me. It’s not something external, it’s a part of me. And that I have the power within me to be a protector, to be a self-guided individual, to be a lover.
So I’m not fragmented, but there are many facets of me that I can use whenever I need to. This was the biggest realization on the personal and professional level. Now when I work with my clients, I’m able to call in that part in them. Because I could see this in myself, I now see it in others. This is amazing because people respond to that calling.” Irina Mariyancik, EHH-MA, EEM-CP, PLT
