The key to your chakras & personal power goes much deeper than meditating and visualizing in your upper chakras. Let’s start at the beginning…

Your chakras are energy centers in your body that are actually different levels of consciousness. They deal with specific life issues at each of those levels. While your body has many chakras, generally people focus on the seven major chakras that go from the base of your spine up to the crown of your head.

These are the energy building blocks for your life. Chakras are not just these isolated swirling energy vortexes, as they are often described, that are open or closed, blocked or not blocked, over-developed or under-developed.

They are a full system built one on top of the other from the base upwards, pulling in energy (information) from the outside world, integrating (changing) the energy inside that chakra and your body and then either sending it back outward, or transmuting (shifting) it to a higher or lower frequency to move it up or down to the other chakras in your system.

There Are Physiological, Psychological and Spiritual Aspects to Each Chakra

My focus in primarily on the psychological and spiritual energies of the chakras and how that is affecting you in your here and now life. And more specifically – the connection between your chakras and your personal power.

Each chakra mirrors your journey through life as you move from one developmental level of awareness to the next.

1st Root – Physical Body:  I’m here. I have a body. I can manipulate physical matter.

2nd Sacral – Sensations: I can feel my senses and my emotions in this body of mine through my nervous system.

3rd Solar Plexus – Self-Esteem: I am Me. I have a sense of myself in the world. There is no one else like me. I am unique in all the world.

The heart chakra is the still-point at the center. It’s the bridge between your lower chakras and upper chakras. It’s also the balance point between you as an individual and the rest of the world.

4th Heart – Relationships: I interact with others and have relationships with them, including but not limited to love relationships.

5th Throat – Communication: I express who I am out to the world through my voice and my creativity

6th Third Eye – Intuition & Inner Guidance: I use my inner and outer sight to see how I fit into the world and live my purpose

7th Crown: I connect to a Higher Source and can experience life as infinite possibility

Your Chakras Are Storehouses of Memories, Emotions, and Traumas

This is from Donna Eden, one of the West’s premier energy medicine practitioners:

“Memory is energetically coded in your chakras just as it is chemically coded in your neurons. … An imprint of every important or emotionally significant event you have experienced is believed to be recorded in your chakra energy, and that is exactly how I experience it. If I know your chakras, I know your history, the obstacles to your growth, your vulnerabilities to illness, and your soul’s longings.”

Your chakras are not something to think about but rather to feel. To feel the energy flowing through them.

Energy moves upward and downward. When you have a block in a chakra, it’s like a garden hose with a kink in it, the water dribbles out. Same with your chakras. When there is energy tied up in knots in a chakra, the energy available to move through you is way less.

When you release a block, it suddenly feels so much more at ease. There’s no obstacle. You literally feel this energy flowing upward from the first to the second chakra, for example. It’s quite delicious.

Past Life Issues and Old Hurts Stay Embedded Until We Release Them

No you don’t have to deal with every single hurt you ever had. But when one of your core wounding experiences is released – it breaks up the logjam that’s had you stuck for a long time. It has a ripple effect throughout your system. The burst of energy is a welcome sign of letting go of the past so you can be more fully present in the now.

Two Key Reasons to Focus on Your Lower Chakras – Especially for Women

ONE In my article on Inner Leadership I shared that when the shift took place from a Female Goddess Deity to a Male God over two thousand years ago, women got cut off from the energy and power in their lower chakras. At the same time, men were cut off from their higher chakras.

For centuries, we’ve all been living half-lives under a spell of being cut off from the full range of qualities and characteristics that our masculine and feminine natures would allow us to be. In fact, many people are not even aware they have a masculine-feminine nature operating inside of them.

I will go into more details on this range of qualities in another article soon. For now, it’s also important to note the distinction between human beings in male or female bodies… and these qualities that can and do apply to both men and women.

TWO:

Your lower chakras hold the keys to unlocking your personal power

It takes courage and at least a bit of trust to open those doorways into old hurts and pain. That’s the hero’s journey we are all called to make.

So many people in the personal development and spiritual arenas spend a lot of time in their upper chakras… meditating, connecting upward to source energy, always being “positive”, working hard to improve themselves.

We connect to Source and pull that energy into our body through the crown, but what it meets on the way down through our body is all the limitations we’ve set in place through our lower chakras.

The upper chakras can only reflect and speak the truth of all the beliefs, vows and limitations you have operating in your lower chakras.

So you can meditate for years but if you hold the unconscious vow that you’re unworthy or helpless, you’ll only allow into you the things that reflect those vows back to you. Opportunities might come your way but you won’t let them in. And it will all seem normal… “Well, I really didn’t have the money for that.” “It just wasn’t the right timing.”

Essentially the journey inward is all about shining the light into your own darkness and then inviting your personal monsters to tea. The shadow sides they represent eventually dissolve like the sun breaking up the early morning mist in the fields.

When those vows you took to be helpless, or invisible, or not good enough rise to the surface of your conscious mind, you can start to let them go.

The tricky thing is… it’s very difficult to do all of this on your own. Our personal blind spots are too ingrained, the walls too thick, our ego’s fear patterns too ready to convince you otherwise.
